How do we evict non-paying tenants in California?

They are 2 months behind with rent. We were able to get a form on the web to send notice of our intent to evict. They have 3 days to respond or pay. Do we need an attorney to get an eviction notice served if they don’t co-operate? What is the shortest time we can give them to get out in CA?
(Please note we have done everything we can to make life easier for them, including reducing the rent but are now behind ourselves with the mortgage payments).
